Personal | Developing My Photo Style
The other day a client told me that she felt like my photos looked like paintings. Hearing that had me smiling from ear to ear, because she isn't too far off to my photographic style. As a lifestyle photographer, my editing and shooting style is heavily inspired by impressionist paintings.
Ironically, impressionism was a style that was developed around the time photography was becoming more portable and assessable. Meaning that the need to hire professional painters for portraits was quickly replaced by photography. So painters decided to focus on painting the fleeting light in landscapes, and the day to day moments in life, since that was something photography couldn't do. (Well at the time at least!)
My favorite impressionist painter is Claude Monet! I thought it would be fun to put some of my photos next to some of his famous paintings for side by side comparisons.
